Tea Research Institute hosted the very first iteration of the D.N. Barua Memorial Tea Colloquium on July 5th 2023 at its premises in Jorhat. Held in the memory of the Late D.N. Barua, one of the most decorated scientists of Tocklai and a stalwart of Tea Science, the Colloquium featured 18 scientific presentations from young scientists and researchers of the Tea Research Association. A major highlight of the Colloquium was the 6th D.N. Barua Memorial Lecture, delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Parameswar Iyer, Director Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati. The event was attended by TRA Chairperson Ms. Nayantara Palchoudhuri, former Chairman and noted planter Mr. P.K. Bezboruah, Mrs. Utpala Goswami, daughter of Late D.N. Barua and son-in-law Mr. Jibon Goswami, TRA Director, Dr. A. Babu, several past and present scientists of TRA Tocklai, six distinguished judges from various agricultural and educational backgrounds, tea planters, representatives of tea associations and several guests from in and around Jorhat.
